Nikki had never ridden a motorcycle before her first day with us.
She wasn't just “a little nervous” — she was genuinely unsure if she’d be able to pick it up at all.
Our instructors noticed she needed a bit more support, so she got 1-on-1 instruction instead of getting left to catch up on her own. She worked persistently and after a bit of extra help she nailed the slow manouvers.
She left the course feeling confident, empowered and elated.
This is exactly why we don’t run a one-size-fits-all class — when riders need extra reps, extra patience, or extra attention. We give it.

Three mistakes we correct in almost every course — and understanding why they happen is the first step to fixing them.
Looking down. New riders naturally want to check their hands, the gauges, or the ground in front of the wheel. The problem is your motorcycle goes where your eyes go, so looking down pulls your line down with it. Keep your head up and your eyes on where you’re headed.
Gripping the bars too tightly. A tight grip and a tense upper body actually work against you — it limits your ability to make small, precise steering corrections. A light grip, bent elbows, and knees gently holding the tank let the bike move the way it’s designed to.
Fixating on what you’re trying to avoid. Whether it’s a pothole, a curb, or another vehicle, staring directly at the hazard tends to steer you right toward it. Point your chin and your eyes at the path you want to take instead, and your bike will follow.
These are all correctable in minutes once you know what to look for — which is exactly what we work through in every course.
Which one did you catch yourself doing — or is there a mistake we didn’t mention that you had to unlearn? Let us know in the comments...

He was really nervous when he started riding too.
Meet Kerryk — one of our Windsor instructors, riding a Kawasaki Vulcan 1500 and a Honda VTX. He teaches because he remembers exactly what it’s like to be the nervous one in the parking lot — and loves watching that fear turn into “okay, this is actually fun.”
In this one he covers:
— the bike mistake a lot of new riders make without realizing it
— what he wishes every rider knew before day one (hint: you need less than you think)
— his favorite ride yet, straight off a FAST track course in Shannonville

That little sticker on your helmet isn’t just a formality.
In Canada, DOT, ECE, and Snell are all legally accepted — but there are differences in how rigorously each one is tested. DOT relies on the manufacturer to self-certify. ECE and Snell both use independent lab testing, and Snell’s impact standards are the toughest of the three.
Swipe for the quick breakdown of what each one actually tests for.
What sticker is on the back of your helmet? Let us know in the comments.
Walking your bike looks simple until you brake at the wrong moment.
Remeber to keep your hands on the grips, wheel straight, kickstand up, and bike upright. Your body is what’s holding it steady, not your arms. The mistake that catches people off guard: grabbing the front brake while the bike is leaned or turning. That’s what pulls it down.
In this quick tip video, Brett shows what happens when you brake off-center — so you can see the mechanics of the drop before it happens to you.
Rule of thumb: when walking your bike only brake when the bike is upright and the wheel is straight.

Here’s exactly what you need to do to get your Ontario Motorcycle Licence, step-by-step:
M1 — Your Written Test
Head to any DriveTest centre and pass a multiple choice test on road signs, rules of the road, and motorcycle-specific knowledge. Pass it, and you’re issued your M1 — valid for 90 days, with a few riding restrictions. You can take your M2 course anytime in that window, but you need to hold your M1 for at least 60 days before you’re eligible to upgrade.
M2 — Safety Course and Skills Test
The Learning Curves M2 Course is a 3-hour classroom session plus 2 full days on-bike. We provide the bikes — just bring your own gear. No experience necessary; we teach from the ground up, and even our more experienced riders are usually surprised by how much they learn. Your M2 is valid for 5 years, and you can challenge the M road test after 18 months.
M — Road Test For Your Full Licence
The final step: a 3-hour classroom session and a 1-day instructed group ride covering city, county, and highway riding, followed by your official M road test. Pass it, and you’re fully licenced — renewable every 5 years.
