❓What is electronegativity?
It is a measure of how well an atom of an element can attract electrons towards itself.
❓ Do you find this difficult to understand or have trouble remembering it? Let our quirky little atoms help!
Here you see Sodium and Chlorine battle it out over the electron. Sodium has an electronegativity level of 0.9 while Chlorine's is 3.1
Remember: the greater the electronegativity, the more strongly the atom is able to pull on the electron. So in this battle, chlorine is the victor and manages to gain hold of the electron.

Cell Biology
The cell membrane is represented by a fluid mosaic model, composed of:
- Phospholipids: which form a bilayer, with the phosphate heads facing outwards and fatty acid tails facing inwards, creating a hydrophobic barrier
- Cholesterol: found only in animal cells. It functions to improve stability and maintain permeability
- Proteins: which may be integral or peripheral and serve a variety of roles
