A huge shout-out to all of our incredible special guests who joined us at the Summer Reading Club this year!

We were so fortunate to welcome Rhythm by Nature, the SPCA, the Fire Department, WildSafeBC, and local author Rhonda Kirby to the Castlegar & District Public Library. We also had the opportunity to visit our Heritage Museum, where participants enjoyed learning about our community's history.

We're also looking forward to welcoming COINS and Erin Bauman later this week, when Erin will lead a fun and engaging Yoga and Grammar session.

Thank you for being part of such a wonderful summer!

Who's excited for the Summer Reading Club program to start next week? 🌊📚

We've been preparing nonstop for our first week! Over the past month, we've transformed the library's basement with our Under the Sea theme and have been busy promoting the program through local businesses, elementary schools, and even this week's farmers market.

We can't wait to dive into all the fun next week and welcome everyone to an exciting summer of reading, crafts, games, and adventure.

See you soon! 🐠💙

Hello! My name is Sasha Bryanton, and I’m thrilled to be part of the team as a coordinator for this year’s Summer Reading Club!

I’ve always enjoyed working at community-focused places. I spent the last few summers working at the Verigin Memorial Park and Doukhobor Discovery Centre between studying in a Library program at the University of the Fraser Valley. Art and reading has always been a massive part of my life so being in something that combines both is very exciting to me! I am looking forward to being involved with this amazing program, and to share all our Under the Sea theme has to offer.

Get ready, Castlegar! Let’s make some waves this summer. I can’t wait to see you there!

Hi everyone! My name is Laura Belanger-Ihlen, I am back as a coordinator for this year’s Summer Reading Club!

I’m so excited to be back as part of the library team, and I can’t wait to dive into this year’s Under the Sea adventure! These past years I have been in Kelowna B.C. pursuing my Business Commerce degree at the University of British Columbia. I have always loved being a part of the community either through work, school or volunteering and this is an amazing chance to once again be involved with the youth of this town! I hope to see some new and familiar faces this summer.

Get ready, Castlegar! Let’s make some waves this summer. I can’t wait to see you there!

The Summer Reading Club is all about encouraging kids to read over the summer 📚but it ends up being so much more than that.

This summer’s theme was Colour Your Summer 🌈. Each week, we explored a different colour of the rainbow, with our outfits, crafts 🎨, and games all matching the theme of the week!

We're also so proud to share that we reached our reading goal of 1,250 books across all the groups! 🎉📖 Way to go, readers!

A huge thank you to all our local sponsors 🙌your support helped us provide a fun and free 7-week camp for these amazing kids.

Here are some of our favourite photos from the summer 📸. We hope you enjoy seeing the fun we had as much as we did 😄!

We can’t wait to see what next year brings!

– Your coordinators,
Laura and Grace 💕👋
