A wonderful Friday trip to the farm.
We visited Shasta the dog, the chicks we hatched in the spring (they a chickens now), the turkeys (they have rainbow face), bunny, goats, Bird the horse, bees and found a snake in the pond.

Bird loves carrots so those that wanted to fed Bird a carrot feeling her lips on their hands.
We also found Bird’s toe nail from when she had a hoof trimming.

Back at the centre we made applesauce with the apples collected in the Zuckerberg Island parking lot. Lots of yummy cinnamon was added.
We read Ms. Iryna’s (we know her from USCC Children’s Orchard Preschool) amazing book “That is so BAD” and talked about how we can live well with others. Connecting to the apples we collected to make applesauce. Such a beautiful book that carries on the story of their journey exploring garbage. Available on Amazon or soon through the USCC Children’s Orchard Preschool.

We met a wonderful couple from the Netherlands at Zuckerberg Island. We offered to walk with them to the Chapel House as they were concerned there was a bear nearby. We had been told there was one at Millennium, not Zuckerberg, but obviously bears have been frequenting the entire area (apples are falling in the Millennium Parking lot, we picked them up to make apple sauce).
We toured the Chapel House then walked them back to the bridge. Then we went down to the river to look for ducks. We found ducks, flowers, shorebirds, a garbage can across the water towards town, an osprey, a kingfisher, and sand that was perfect for making pizzas.
We meet so many interesting people at Zuckerberg.

Our first visit to the new Brandson Park.
Lots of cool climbing options, tables, grass, a few trees, water fountain and a swinging platform.

On our way to Millennium Park we noticed the crane was working.
We got out to watch the crane go up and down, in and out, and back and forth moving pipes and wood.
Where is the driver?
How does it move?
How big is the building going to be?
How does it get here?

The smoke has lifted and showers have brought a fresh cool feel.

Our littlest said “bridge” when discussing where to adventure today.

Off we went to the bridge, the Brilliant Suspension bridge and the “rainbow” bridge. But first we observed the crane lifting stairs at the old pioneer site.

Once we arrived at our destination we ran across the suspension bridge and explored the trail. We walked under the Rainbow bridge listening to the loud trucks and watched pigeons fly and a train run under the bridge across the river.

On our way back we found many, many snails out enjoying the rain.

Walking sticks turned into drumsticks tapping the new yellow metal post and the wood fence.

It was so wonderful to get out exploring again!

We can at least see an outline of the mountains across the river this morning.
Yesterday afternoon we reached an AQI reading of 424 in Castlegar.
So thankful for the gym space we have to run, bike and climb in (and 2 HEPA filters).
Hoping the smoke lifts soon while acknowledging so many families and animals are displaced and devastated by so many fires throughout the southern interior.
