We wanted to take a second to congratulate Mary Ann Ferguson who retired from Yukon University last month!

Mary Ann was at the Ayamdigut Campus for 5 years then left (for a bit) and came back to YukonU to work at the YukonU Carcross Campus for a year. She then transferred to the Dän Hänádän K’enjik (Carmacks Campus) where she worked for 6 years, most recently as the Community Adult Education Coordinator.

Mary Ann dedicated more than 12 years to improving education in the North.

And we are forever grateful for her time, dedication and hard work.

We will miss you, Mary Ann, but are so excited for your new chapter!

Please help us celebrate Mary Ann's retirement by reacting to this post 👏

The sound of construction can be heard in Carmacks these days.

The Little Salmon Carmacks First Nation is currently building two new community facilities, while also giving the Heritage Hall a much-needed facelift.

🧒🏽 One of the new buildings under construction is a Youth Centre.

This space will provide safe, culturally relevant, and empowering programming for LSCFN youth.

💜 Another important project underway is the construction of a Safe House/Shelter for Women and Children.

This facility will offer secure, confidential accommodations to ensure the physical safety of women and their children.

In addition to shelter, it will provide services that are culturally sensitive and respectful of Northern Tutchone traditions, values, and practices.

🏠 Meanwhile, the Heritage Hall, a long-standing community gathering place, is being renovated.

The updates aim to preserve its importance while ensuring the building continues to meet the evolving needs of LSCFN citizens.

From Mary Ann Ferguson, Community Adult Education Coordinator and Aislyn Burgess-Mayer, Campus Planner.
