WELCOME TO THE 2026-2027 SCHOOL YEAR, HIGH SCHOOL BEARS!

You're probably asking: WHEN and WHERE do I get my timetable?

School starts on Wednesday, September 2nd at 8:00 a.m. Homeroom teachers (for your period 1 class) will be reaching out to you via school email to let you know which classroom you'll be starting in (but not until September 1st 🙂). They will have a hard copy of your timetable to give you in that first period on Wednesday. If you don't have a homeroom teacher (because you've got a spare or an eLearning course in period 1), you will need to stop by the guidance office to pick up your schedule.

If for some reason you don't get your first period information by Wednesday morning, not to worry! Mr. Hickey, Mrs. Killeen, Mrs. Anderson and Mrs. Day will be outside before school starts to help students get to their homerooms. Additionally, we will have lists posted at both outside the gym doors and at the Lake Ave. (bus) entrance, where students will be able to quickly find their name and their homeroom number.

A note for grade 9 students: if you attend orientation on August 31st, 2026 at 10:30am, you will receive your schedule!

For our International students, Ms. Wolff and Ms. Harmison will be there to meet you at the front of the school.

And WHAT DO I DO if I want to change a class?

Here is a reminder of some guidelines to keep in mind before requesting a change:

Changes are NOT made:

To change a teacher
To be in classes with friends

Changes CAN be made:

To accommodate changes to post-secondary plans and prerequisites
To change streams (i.e., Academic to Applied, University to College or vice-versa)

The guidance team has done their best to give all students the courses they requested; If, however, once you receive your schedule you would like to discuss a possible course change, you will need to first look over the list of Semester 1 classes to see if there is a suitable replacement option in the specific period, then fill out a Course Request Change form. The list of Semester 1 class and the Course Request Change form will be sent to all students and shared on the first day of classes.

Note: We will NOT be doing course changes before the first day of school. We are still finalizing all schedules and no one has been given a finalized schedule as of yet. There will be an official form to fill out to request a change, it will not be done via email.

🗣️ Talk about how they're feeling and encourage open conversations
⏰ Ease back into school routines with consistent bedtimes and mealtimes
🏫 Help them feel prepared by visiting the school or practicing their route
💛 Watch for signs of stress or anxiety and remind them it's okay to ask for help
🌿 Take care of your own well-being too—when you prioritize your mental health, you're better able to support your child

A little preparation, patience, and encouragement can help make the transition back to school a positive one. 🍎
