The Summer 2026 Entrance Awards Applications are now open!

Entrance awards are available to students who are coming to YukonU for the very first time in the Fall semester as a full-time student.

Awards can be based on academic or personal achievement, financial need, or additional specialized criteria.

Building trails, skills, and community... one ride at a time! 🚵‍♀️

This summer, Yukon University partnered with Carcross/Tagish First Nation, Carcross Tagish Limited Partnership, Videa, and Icycle Sport to offer another season of the Single Track to Success youth mountain bike trail crew program in Carcross.

Five C/TFN youth spent ten weeks working full-time on the Montana Mountain trails, building ramps, picnic areas, and a new phase of the bike jump park, all while gaining hands-on experience in outdoor leadership, trail maintenance, and carpentry.

They worked under the guidance of Crew Leader Dominic Johns (CTFN), assistant Crew Leader Justin Smarch (CAFN), and Crew Supervisor Tyler Coghill (YukonUCarcross Campus).

The trail crew from Whitehorse came out for a week to work with our crew to experience some different types of trail work.

With the support of Videa’s grant, the crew built new wooden features, learned skid steer operation, and ended every week with a ride to test what they built.

Single Track to Success is a youth employment program that offers education in outdoor leadership, basic carpentry, trail maintenance and construction with a variety of hand and power tools, outdoor worksite safety and downhill bike riding technique.

This certificate program consists of 10 credit courses and a series of safety courses preparing First Nations students for entry-level employment in the environmental monitoring field.

Admission requirements: English 10 and Math 10.

Prepare yourself for work in a vibrant and growing environmental sector with our Environmental Monitoring Certificate.

This certificate program consists of 10 credit courses and a series of safety courses.

It prepares First Nations students for entry-level employment in the Environmental Monitoring field.

The Environmental Monitoring certificate program provides students with a comprehensive understanding of the biophysical environment, introduces First Nation traditional knowledge, and teaches technical skills such as environmental sampling techniques and navigation and data collection with GPS.

Admission requirements: English 10 AND Math 10. *Please contact program coordinator to discuss alternate pathways.

YukonU Youth Moving Mountains campers soared into learning with a day full of creativity in Carcross.

They built their own kites, tested them against the wind and had a sense of accomplishment while watching their colourful creations dance in the sky.

YukonU Youth Moving Mountains campers were full of creativity as they rolled up their sleeves for a classic summer favourite tie-dye shirts.

Armed with bright dyes, rubber bands, and a whole lot of imagination, each camper transformed a plain white shirt into a one-of-a-kind masterpiece.

Swirls, stripes, bursts of colour, no two were alike, and each told its own little story.
