Join us in welcoming back East Coast Indigenous Land-Based Coordinator, Sarah Prosper, from her maternity leave.

Come visit with Sarah and weave a sweetgrass braid at the Nova Scotia Mi’kmaq Summer Games in Sipe’kine’katik, between 10 am-5 pm at the events listed on the poster. The sweetgrass was traditionally harvested in Unama’ki by Sarah.

Knucwentwécw - to help one another.

Knucwentwécw: Robson Valley Youth Leadership Program is bringing a cohort of local Robson Valley youth leaders together to explore, connect and experience world class adventure in their own backyard.

This program embraces the shared responsibility of helping one another - including our human and non-human relatives, as well as ourselves through reciprocity and contribution. Youth participants will strengthen connection to place, community, culture and peers, while building the confidence and skills that will empower you to step into a leadership role in their communities.

Did you know The Howl Experience offers 5- and 7-day land-based field trips in the Canadian Rockies (Kananaskis & Banff) for high school groups? This opportunity is open to all high school classes/groups from across Canada. 🏔️🌱

Through an immersive blend of land-based and experiential learning, students explore personal wellness, community connection, Indigenous knowledge, and environmental stewardship. Guided by the land, community voices, Îyârhe Nakoda Elders and Knowledge Holders, and environmental professionals, participants build resilience, strengthen relationships, deepen their connection to place, and explore pathways to sustainable futures.

The program includes:

- Ground transportation from Calgary for the duration of your program.
- All meals on the program.
- Accommodations.
- Program activities.
- Elder & Knowledge Keeper Honorariums
- Program Materials

The Harvesting Spirit Exploration Program will immerse participants in land-based and community-based learning directly from Indigenous Elders, Knowledge Keepers and community leaders while exploring Indigenous food sovereignty, traditional harvesting practices, environmental stewardship, and reconciliation. The program aims to incorporate both Indigenous and Western knowledge systems to deepen participants’ understanding of and participation in Indigenous food sovereignty issues and practices.

🗓️September 27 to October 2, 2026

💰Sliding scale $400 - $1,500
We have received special funding and are excited to offer high subsidized spots for 8 local Bow Valley & area youth.

👉Both Indigenous and non-Indigenous youth ages 17-35 are encouraged to apply now until July 12, 2026, using the link in our bio.

Calling all young community leaders! 🌱

Thanks to funding from Canada Service Corps, a national movement that empowers youth to gain experience and build important skills while giving back to their community, The Howl Experience is excited to provide youth ages 17 - 30 with microgrants of up to $4,000 to carry out innovative, youth-led community projects.

Community projects must be focused on either:

- Reconciliation
- Climate Action & Environmental Preservation
- Building an Inclusive Canada
- Promoting Civic & Democratic Engagement
- Strengthening Youth Resilience

Applications are open from June 19 to July 5, 2026.

We are bringing together high school youth and educators from across Canada for a multi-day, land-based leadership experience grounded in both Indigenous and Western ways of knowing. Our focus for this gathering is on how leadership is learned and practiced. Through time outdoors, hands-on activities, and sharing community experiences, participants will explore questions such as: What can we learn from the land? What does it mean to be a good community member? How do we make a positive impact in our community?

🗓️November 6 -9, 2026

📍YMCA Camp Chief Hector, Kananiskis, AB.

💰$550 per person +gst (With the support of Youth Forums Canada, travel costs will be subsidized for participating school groups. This conference fee includes accommodation, meals, programming, and activities).

Earlier this week, we wrapped up our first Yukon Educator PD program for the summer of 2026! 🏔️🌱

Teachers from across Canada had an incredible time connecting to place through this land-based and relationship-centred professional development learning opportunity.

And we have some exciting news! If you’d like to experience the magic of the North yourself this summer, we have a few spots still available for our Yukon Educator PD happening this July 30 - August 4!

$2,500/person + GST

The program includes:

- Airfare from Calgary to Whitehorse
- Meals, accommodation & ground transportation during the program
- All program materials, activities & honorariums.
