🥋 3 Ways to Be a Better Teammate

1. Show up consistently.
Your teammates need people they can count on. Consistency helps you improve while giving your training partners someone reliable to work with.

2. Work hard, but work smart.
Don’t treat every round like a competition. Focus on practicing your technique, trying new things, and helping your partner improve instead of trying to win the round at all costs.

3. Be encouraging & maintain a positive attitude.
Everyone has tough days and bad rounds. Encourage your teammates, celebrate their progress, and help create a training environment where everyone feels comfortable learning and improving.

The best training partners don’t just make themselves better — they make everyone around them better.

3 tips for a better roundhouse kick!

1. Think of the kick as a full body movement.
Our shin is what makes contact yes, but if we only use the muscles of our one leg to kick we are missing 90% of the technique. Rotate with your hips and shoulders to maximize your power.

2. Rotate your supporting leg.
This tip won't only make your kick better but your joints will thank you. In order to allow your body to rotate, lift your heel off the ground and allow it to turn with your kick rather than putting all that stress on your knee.

3. Practice practice practice.
There is a reason you see so many videos of the Thais kicking the bag for 100's of reps at a time. You can't think your way to better technique. Get after it and practice!

🥋 Top 3 Tips for New Grapplers

1. Focus on surviving before submitting.
Your first goal isn't to tap everyone. Learn to stay safe, maintain good positions, and recognize when you're in trouble.

2. Don't try to win every round.
Rolling is practice, not a test. Experiment, make mistakes, and give yourself permission to lose positions while you're learning.

3. Learn the fundamentals before chasing fancy techniques.
Posture, frames, escapes, guard retention, passing, and positional control will take you much further than knowing 100 different submissions.

Stay calm under pressure.

Life always has something new to throw at you, something unexpected.

Just like Jiu Jitsu. Sometimes we are met with problems we don't know how to face.

Stay calm, assess the situation and act accordingly. Trust in your experience and technique. At the very least you will leave with new lessons.

Failure is just an opportunity to learn!
