Beating the heat one creek visit at a time 🤗
We said goodbye to one of our little pond friends today. After doing a bit of investigating, we think it may actually have been a developing salamander rather than a tadpole.
This is science!! 🐸 🐸
Over the past few weeks, we had the opportunity to observe one of our tadpoles (almost) transform into a froglet, with just a small tail remaining; a remarkable stage in its development. Unfortunately, it later passed away.
While this wasn’t the outcome we had hoped for, it created an authentic opportunity for inquiry. The children began asking thoughtful questions: Was it simply part of nature? Was there something about its environment? Could there have been another reason?
Science isn’t always about finding the “right” answer. Sometimes it’s about observing, wondering, making predictions, and accepting that nature doesn’t always unfold the way we expect. Even in disappointment, there is meaningful learning. 🤍
