Ready, Set, Grow Family Daycare

As of August 31, 2021 Ready, Set, Grow has permanently closed its doors. I am truly grateful to have met so many wonderful children and their families over the past 3 years. I truly appreciate the trust put in me and treasure the memories we made together! Apologies to the people on my waitlist, i will not be contacting everyone in person to let them know of the closure.

More today!

We finally have a butterfly! The others have yet to emerge, I hope some will wait until kids are here Monday! The red stuff in the cup is Gatorade, the paper towel soaks up the liquid and the butterflies drink it from there.

The chrysalis have been transferred to their flight cage, now we just spritz daily with water and wait...

It's finally happened! The caterpillars have formed their chrysalis! Not the best camera angle but they cannot be disturbed while the chrysalis is developing. It is extremely delicate at this stage.

This caterpillar is in a 'J' formation which hopefully means it is starting it's chrysalis (cocoon). They are supposed to start this in 7-10 days and we are in day 15, so should be any minute now.... The stuff in the bottom is food (a mix of toasted soy flour, plant matter, vitamins & minerals) and also their waste which I am very tempted to clean but have been told not too as disturbing the caterpillars can kill them. Looking closely in the containers, there is webbing around some of the caterpillars which actually means they are flourishing😊

I think they should be starting their cocoon any day now!

They are going to outgrow their little cups!
