Over the past five years, Misbah has built a program rooted in both experience and a passion for learning. Recently graduating from the Early Childhood Education program, she continues to expand her knowledge and thoughtfully incorporates current early learning practices into the experiences she provides for the children in her care.

Misbah values helping children develop strong foundational skills that will support them as they grow. Throughout the day, she intentionally incorporates opportunities to explore early literacy and numeracy concepts such as letters, numbers, colours, and shapes through engaging activities and conversations. Alongside these experiences, children have opportunities to build, create, explore sensory materials, and engage in imaginative play, allowing them to learn through both guided experiences and open-ended exploration.

One of Misbah’s strengths is her ability to make learning enjoyable. Whether children are discovering patterns while building with blocks, strengthening fine motor skills through loose parts, or exploring colours during a sensory activity, she thoughtfully extends their learning in ways that are engaging and developmentally appropriate. Her balanced approach helps children build confidence while fostering curiosity and a love of learning.

The relationships Misbah builds with families often extend well beyond a child’s time in her program. She values open communication and takes the time to get to know each family, creating strong partnerships built on trust and mutual respect. It is not uncommon for families to return years later with younger siblings—a reflection of the meaningful connections she creates and the lasting impact she has on the families she serves.

This week we want to spotlight Lorna. Lorna has been a valued home childcare provider with our agency for many years and brings even more experience from her years as a private home childcare provider. She recognizes children’s individual strengths, interests, and needs, using her experience to guide them through everyday challenges while encouraging independence, confidence, and positive social interactions. Lorna creates an environment where children feel safe, respected, and valued, allowing them to develop trusting relationships and a strong sense of belonging.

One of Lorna’s greatest strengths is her joyful personality and willingness to fully engage in play alongside the children. She is never afraid to be silly, laugh, sing, dance, or use her imagination, creating meaningful moments that capture the children’s attention and encourage active participation. Her playful approach naturally invites children into learning experiences, making everyday routines and activities exciting and engaging. Whether she is joining in dramatic play, telling funny stories, or celebrating children’s ideas, Lorna models enthusiasm and genuine enjoyment, which inspires the children to confidently explore, communicate, and express themselves.

Lorna’s warm, positive spirit shines through in every interaction. She consistently fosters an environment where children feel comfortable taking risks, asking questions, solving problems, and building friendships. Her responsive interactions, patience, and sense of humour strengthen the relationships she has with the children and support their emotional well-being.

Our little learners had a wonderful time exploring warm and cool colours today! 🎨 Using colourful clothes pegs and colour wheels, they practised matching, sorting, and strengthening their fine motor skills. 🌈
