This week, children explored Canada Day, Canadian symbols, maple leaves, flags, red and white activities, and what makes Canada special through fun, hands-on learning.

🧸 Explorers (18mo–3yrs) — Enjoyed Canada Day sensory bins, maple leaf stamping, red and white sorting, playdough maple leaves, and colouring maple leaves while building fine motor and early language skills.

🔨 Builders (3–4yrs) — Created Canadian flag crafts, explored Canadian symbols, practised Canada Day counting, sang “O Canada,” and used art, matching, and group activities to learn about Canada.

🎓 Ready Set K! (4–5yrs) — Practised C for Canada and M for Maple, explored Canadian symbols, began learning about provinces, and used drawing, discussion, writing, and early geography activities to build kindergarten readiness.

Our June theme is “Canada’s Land, Water & First Peoples” — and Week 4 was all about Summer Fun & Celebrations! 🌿💙

This week, children explored summer safety, outdoor play, sunlight, shadows, Father’s Day, the Summer Solstice, and all the fun ways we can learn through nature and the world around us.

🧸 Explorers (18mo–3yrs) — Created Father’s Day handprint cards, explored sun art, traced shadows, enjoyed outdoor play, and used simple hands-on activities to notice sunlight, nature, and summer changes.

🔨 Builders (3–4yrs) — Made Father’s Day gifts, created sun safety posters, explored sundials and shadows, and talked about ways to stay safe in the summer, including hats, sunscreen, water, and shade.

🎓 Ready Set K! (4–5yrs) — Wrote and drew summer safety rules, continued nature journal activities, explored the Summer Solstice, and practised early writing, observation, discussion, and problem-solving through outdoor learning.

🧸 Explorers (18mo–3yrs) — Enjoyed rhythm and drum circle activities, explored nature items like rocks, sticks, and leaves, listened to stories, and used hands-on sensory play to connect with land, animals, and the world around them.

🔨 Builders (3–4yrs) — Took part in Indigenous story time using age-appropriate books, created nature art with outdoor materials, explored simple drum and dance activities, and talked about caring for the land and respecting one another.

🎓 Ready Set K! (4–5yrs) — Learned about Treaty 7 with educator support, discussed what it means to live on Treaty 7 land, reflected on Indigenous Peoples Day, and explored ways we can show respect for the land and people in our community.

🔨 Builders (3–4yrs) — Created thank-you cards for community helpers, role-played mailing letters and riding the bus 🚌, and practised sorting helpers by the ways they support families and children.
