Our May theme is “Amazing Community Helpers” — and Week 1 was all about People Who Keep Us Safe! 👮‍♀️🚑🔥

This week, children learned about firefighters, police officers, paramedics, emergency helpers, and how these important people help keep our communities safe.

🧸 Explorers (18mo–3yrs) — Explored community helper dress-up, made fire truck crafts 🚒, listened to different siren sounds, and used blocks to build fire stations, hospitals, and schools.

🔨 Builders (3–4yrs) — Practised fire safety activities, learned “stop, drop, and roll,” explored community helper sorting, and used pretend play to act out real-life safety helpers in our community.

🎓 Ready Set K! (4–5yrs) — Practised emergency role play using a toy phone 📞, learned what to say when calling 9-1-1, worked on H for Helper, and explored how firefighters, police, and paramedics help people every day.

🧸 Explorers (18mo–3yrs) — Explored fruits and vegetables through tasting activities 🍎🥕, used their senses to notice colours, textures, and smells, and continued learning about how food grows through simple hands-on play.

🔨 Builders (3–4yrs) — Took part in community garden pretend play 🧺, learned where food comes from, and explored sharing, helping, and kindness through simple snack-making and group discussion.

🎓 Ready Set K! (4–5yrs) — Learned about gardens, healthy food choices, and how people in the community grow, prepare, and share food 🌱. Children also practised early writing, observation, and discussion skills through food and garden-themed learning.
