Sushree Academy feels honoured and delighted to perform on the joyful occasion of Holi, organized by the Hindu Society Temple, NE Calgary. It was a proud moment to have the Honourable Danielle Smith and Minister Muhammad Yaseenpresent as distinguished guests.
Our little talented stars of Sushree Academy beautifully presented the Indian Classical Odissi Dance under the guidance of Guru Sushree Mishra Kar.

Daśāvatāra – Natya Vilas is a classical Odissi dance repertoire celebrating the ten divine incarnations of Lord Vishnu.

Through the expressive language of Nrutya (pure dance) and Abhinaya (expression), the dancers bring to life each avatar—from Matsya, Kurma, Varaha, and Narasimha, to the noble Rama and Krishna, and the enlightened Buddha and Kalki. Each incarnation is portrayed through distinct movements, expressions, and rhythmic patterns, reflecting the divine purpose behind their manifestation.

This performance draws inspiration from the sacred verse of the Bhagavad Gita:

“Yadā yadā hi dharmasya glānir bhavati Bhārata,
Abhyutthānam adharmasya tadātmānam sṛjāmy aham.”

Meaning:
“Whenever there is a decline of righteousness and a rise of unrighteousness, O Bharata, then I manifest Myself.”

Through dance, this eternal truth is beautifully expressed—showing how the Divine descends in various forms to restore dharma, guide humanity, and inspire devotion.
