Many children don’t struggle because they “aren’t trying.”
They struggle because the skills needed to plan, organize, focus, regulate emotions, and follow through haven’t been fully developed yet.
The good news? Executive functioning skills can be strengthened with the right support.
And whether your child is just starting to show signs of struggle or has been overwhelmed for years… It’s always a good time to begin.

For years, our work has focused on how students learn, sustain attention, and perform at their best. Along the way, professionals, executives, and parents kept asking the same question:
Is there a version of this for adults?
Now, the answer is 𝘆𝗲𝘀.

Weekends don’t need to be complicated to make a big impact.
The simple activities you’re already doing (or could easily add) are powerful opportunities to build your child’s executive functioning skills.
Does your child struggle with…
• Staying focused?
• Controlling impulses?
• Following instructions?
You’re not alone ❤️
And the good news?
These skills can be strengthened through play.
What are executive functioning skills?
They’re the brain’s “management system” that helps your child:
• Focus attention
• Control impulses
• Plan and complete tasks
And they can be built in everyday moments 👇
🎯 Impulse Control
Try:
• Simon Says → builds pause + think skills
• Buddy Reading → take turns reading & listening
💡These help your child slow down and respond instead of reacting
👀 Attention
Try:
• Listening to stories (audiobooks or read aloud)
• Walking on a log or curb
💡These strengthen focus, balance, and sustained attention
🎨 Motor Skills + Attention
Try:
• Baking or cooking together
• Crafts (painting, beading, building)
💡 These build coordination, patience, and following steps
✨ The key?
Keep it:
• Low pressure
• Consistent
• Play-based
Small moments = big brain growth 🧠💫
These are the skills that help them focus, regulate emotions, and follow through—at school and in everyday life.
If you’ve been wondering where your child might need extra support, we’ve created a free quiz to help you get clear.

Today's Tip: Audiobooks are a great way to keep reluctant readers interested in and excited about reading.
They can still follow along with the actual physical book and simultaneously have the audio playing.
This increases their attention, engagement, enjoyment of reading, and overall comprehension.
