One moment of connection can carry the stories of many more.

After years of co-training ASIST workshops together, Karen Simba, LivingWorks Regional Training and Delivery Manager, recently reconnected with Shawna Percy for a special moment in Guelph, Ontario - presenting Shawna with her ASIST Gold Award.

The award recognizes an incredible milestone: 104 LivingWorks ASIST workshops delivered to more than 1,930 Helpers.

That’s more than a number. It represents thousands of opportunities for people to use their skills to recognize someone who may be thinking about su***de, reach in, and help keep them safe for now.

Congratulations, Shawna, on this well-deserved recognition and your dedication to building su***de-safer communities. And thank you, Karen, for sharing a moment that so meaningfully brings to life. 💙

Connection can bring people together around a shared purpose and turn that shared purpose into action.

As part of , MATES North America Pilot shared what connection looks like within the construction industry and how it can help inspire collective action.

At the end of every MATES General Awareness Talk, participants are asked to reflect on the issue of su***de in their industry, whether they know what to do, and - most importantly-whether they’re prepared to act.

Then come the nods. The raised hands. The collective commitment to tackle it together.

It’s a powerful example of : people looking out for one another, building confidence to step in, and committing to a culture where no one has to struggle alone.

We’re grateful to MATES North America for sharing this moment and proud to work alongside them in strengthening ***dePrevention across the construction industry. 💙

Connection doesn’t always need a big moment. Sometimes, it’s found in the ordinary ones.

Our colleague Ricky Nguyen shared this reflection for , reminding us what being fully present with the people who matter can look like.

A meal together. A walk. A meaningful conversation. Shared laughter. Simply being there.

Ricky’s reflection invites us to notice the everyday moments that help us listen, understand and stay connected to one another.

This week, we’re asking:

💬 What is a moment of connection that has stayed with you?

Reply in the comments, post your own reflection using and tag LivingWorks or email us at [email protected].

When it comes to ***dePrevention, connection is powerful.

Evidence continues to show that meaningful social connections support wellbeing and help protect against isolation. From a brief conversation with a stranger to a trusted relationship or a community support network, connection can remind people they are not alone.

Creating su***de-safer communities takes all of us. It requires trained Helpers, supportive environments, strong community partnerships and access to care.

Together, these connections create pathways to hope, support and safety.
