Yellowhead County has put a FIRE ADVISORY in place on April 16, 2025 at 1:00 p.m. (1300 hours) for the Yellowhead County Fire Permit Area.

This is due to the current weather and forecast winds. The windy conditions have elevated the dry grass hazard in the Yellowhead County Fire Permit Area.

Existing permits will remain valid and new permit requests will still be approved on a case-by-case basis, but no heavy fuel permits will be issued.

Under this advisory, safe campfires for cooking and warming are still allowed but extreme caution is advised as windy conditions are forecasted.

We encourage industry & landowners who completed winter burning to check your piles to ensure full extinguishment.

The Yellowhead County Fire Permit Area is east of Highway 22 to the Pembina River and north of Highway 16.

The fire advisory will remain in effect until conditions improve or further escalation is required.
