Candace leads a guided meditation to invite in a deeper rest and trust in one's simple being - that this is truly enough...and all that is ever really being asked of us in life. Candace affirms in her talk how easy it can be to move away from ourselves, especially when dark or uncomfortable feelings appear - quickly igniting core beliefs around lack and limitation of the self and then taking us on a journey to try to fix or resolve them to then make ourselves 'okay'. Candace shares a personal story of a recent dark emotional experience appearing and how subtle and convincing the stories around it can be, as the mind can make it seem like something really is wrong and then seeks to fix ourselves from a place of lack. She shares how the feeling itself isn't a problem, it is rather believing the thoughts that they are a problem and a sign of a personal defect, that can once again take us off on another journey to get away from our experience by fixing it, trying to figure it out, understand it, all in hopes of a better experience of self in the future. All of this reaffirming a sense of incompleteness, unworthiness, and lack in ourselves and our experience, as we are here and now.
She notes that it is important to remember that as we rest in being we can allow all these emotions to arise without investing a personal sense of self in them. That from this place of being we meet our emotions but from a place of inherent wholeness and curiosity, rather than lack and resistance. And that from this place of 'being with' our experience, it does not preclude action to then resolve personal limitations, beliefs, or behaviours, but that these actions (if they should arise) come from a place of welcoming parts of ourselves into the wholeness of our being as it is, rather than trying to overcome these emotions or subtly escape the more uncomfortable or darker aspects of the human experience.
