One of the first and most important steps in your aviation journey is obtaining your Transport Canada Aviation Medical Certificate. Transport Canada requires every pilot—whether you’re training for a Private Pilot Licence (PPL), Commercial Pilot Licence (CPL), or Airline Transport Pilot Licence (ATPL), to meet specific medical standards. These are divided into categories:

· Category 1 – for Commercial and Airline Transport Pilots (valid for 12 months)

· Category 3 – for Private Pilots (valid for 60 months if under 40; 24 months if 40 or older)
