We're Ikamotsiipi Q***r Kinship Collective!

What does Ikamotsiipi mean?

The Blackfoot language is spoken on Treaty 7 land by the Blackfoot Confederacy. In The Blackfoot Dictionary, the word Ikamotsiipi is defined as “bring to safety." This name serves as recognition of practicing on Treaty 7 land and as a demonstration of our commitment to providing safer spaces for our clients.

What do we do?

We facilitate programming around 2SLGBTQIAP+ identities and experiences to schools and organizations. We believe that everyone has the right to learn and explore in an accessible and interactive environment. As such, we use the Universal Design for Learning (UDL).

What is Universal Design for Learning (UDL)?

Universal Design for Learning is a research-based framework. It places emphasis on meeting all learners' needs in educational settings and creating accessibility in learning spaces.

Why work with us?

We strive to create an accessible, engaging learning environment for identity exploration. Our goal is to hold space for folks to explore and to develop a sense of community.

Our staff all have lived experience in the 2SLGBTQIAP+ community and are actively working at deconstructing existing structures using frameworks of anti-racism, decolonization, intersectionality, and q***r theory.
