The Government of Alberta has officially opened applications for the 2026-27 academic year, announcing a massive $1 Billion+ investment into student funding.
While there is over $75 Million strictly allocated for non-repayable GRANTS, the rules for how you qualify have shifted to align with federal standards.
Here are the 3 major updates for this year:
➡️ Reinstated Assessments: Parental or spousal financial contributions are being brought back into the calculation for certain applicants.
➡️ Higher Student Contribution: The minimum expected student contribution has increased to $3,000 per loan year.
➡️ Income Verification: A secure, mandatory online CRA consent verification is now required once per loan year.
⚠️ THE 60-DAY GOLDEN RULE:
Alberta Student Aid strongly recommends applying at least 60 days before your classes start. Processing times will peak this summer, and applying late could delay your tuition and living allowances!
Don’t navigate these complex changes alone. Our dedicated Admissions Team is here to help you understand your eligibility and maximize your chance at securing non-repayable grants.
Get your application sorted early and stress-free!
