No, it doesn't mean you have alien antennae popping out of your head like Mantis in Guardians of the Galaxy 🤣.

It's about being big-hearted and intuitive. And it can feel both like a blessing and a curse, where you are more sensitive to the toxicity in this world and in your relationships than other people. Indeed, empathic people are born with a different kind of nervous system which also means you have deeper relationship needs.

ON LOVE - With so much hatred online, so much pain in the world, so much tribalism dividing humanity with a "them vs us" mentality.... I remind myself that most of us still champion kindness in our everyday lives. We might not have the loudest voices in the world, but we don't need that to live well and happy day-by-day with those we love.

EMPATH THOUGHT FOR THE DAY: I woke up to the rain this morning, and wondered what others feel when they experience rain - relief, comfort, sadness, joy, anger? While, just from a practical standpoint, we definitely need rain … I also think that when we let ourselves feel into whatever nature gives us, whether that be sunshine, wind or rain, it’s a chance to feel some emotions we might not always be aware of.

What is a SmartEmpath™ ? Dr. Michael Haggstrom has been actively using the term "Smart Empath" since 2009 in his private clinical counselling practice to describe empathic intelligence that intuitive people need to thrive in this world.

Intuitives are born with sensitive nervous systems that are like sponges absorbing the energies in the world around them, both positive and negative.

Smart Empaths are highly compassionate and champion harmony wherever they go, but not at the expense of being authentic. Indeed authenticity matters a great deal to intuitive empaths.

Empaths have a great capacity for compassion and love. But that can also make them vulnerable to being manipulated, especially by narcissists.

Empaths and narcissists often form a couple. At first the connection can seem amazing because the narcissist knows how to mirror the empath. In fact, the narcissist can be highly skilled at duping the empath with their superficial charm and other deceptive strategies such as "love bombing".

But when the narcissist begins showing their true neglectful and abusive nature, the empath will always end up harmed and even traumatized.
