🇹🇭 Bilingual Milestones

One of my favorite little milestones lately. ❤️

My boy can now count from 1–20 in Thai. 🇹🇭

หนึ่ง สอง สาม สี่ ห้า…
สิบ… สิบเอ็ด… ยี่สิบ! 😂

Is it a huge academic achievement?
Probably not.

But as a Thai mom raising my kids in Canada,
these little things mean a lot to me.

Because keeping a language alive isn’t always about being fluent.

Sometimes, it’s just being able to count to 20 in Mom’s language. 🥹❤️

Little words. Little moments.

Slow learning. Strong roots.🌱

วันนี้ลูกชายโชว์นับเลข 1-20 เป็นภาษาไทยให้ฟัง 🇹🇭
ความภูมิใจเล็กๆ ของคนเป็นแม่อ่ะเนอะ 🤣
ดีใจจนอยากเปิดแชมเปญฉลองเลย
ในที่สุดก็ยอมนับเป็นภาษาไทยสักที!

Homeschooling is weird.

You spend time teaching your child something.

He understands it.
He practices it.
He does it correctly.

Then you ask him about it later…

“I don’t know.” 😭😂😭😂

And this is when I realize…

He doesn’t have a math problem.
He has a MOM problem. 😂

Because apparently, knowing something
and being willing to show Mom that you know
it are two completely different skills.

🙄🙄🙄

Homeschooling: where sometimes the lesson is math,
but the real lesson is PATIENCE.

โฮมสคูลลูกชายวัย 6 ขวบ ไม่ใช่เรื่องง่าย 😂

วันนี้เรียนเลขกับฝึกการเขียน

ลูกเข้าใจ ตอบคำถามได้
ฝึกทำเองได้โดยไม่ต้องไกด์
และทำได้ถูกต้องทุกอย่าง

แต่พอเราถาม คำถามเดิมกับสิ่งที่เพิ่งทำได้ไปเมื่อกี้…

คำตอบคือ “ไม่รู้ครับ” 😭😂

และนี่คือจุดที่เราเริ่มเข้าใจว่า…

ลูกชายไม่ได้ "ไม่รู้“
ลูกแค่ไม่รู้ตอน “แม่ถาม” ต่างหาก 😂

เพราะดูเหมือนว่า…

การรู้คำตอบ กับ
การยอมแสดงให้แม่เห็นว่าตัวเองรู้คำตอบ

เป็นคนละเรื่องกันสินะ 😂

บางทีบทเรียนวันนี้คือคณิตศาสตร์…

แต่บทเรียนที่แม่ได้กลับไปคือ “ความอดทน” 🫠😂

ได้แต่บอกตัวเองว่า “ลูกเราเหมือนเรา” 🤣

Welcome to school… but no school! 😂🎒

My boy is officially Grade 1 now. Yeahhhh! 🥹🎉

Honestly, being a mom of a 6-year-old with BIG emotions and BIG feelings is not always easy. 😂

Some days, I’m teaching math, reading, and science.
Other days, I’m just trying to help this little human deal with his emotions. 😅

But at the same time, watching him grow and seeing the person he is becoming is probably my favorite part of being his mom. ❤️

We’re continuing to homeschool through a registered homeschool program, so yes… we’re technically “in school,” just not in a classroom. 😉

We have a teacher who checks in with us twice a year, and we set our learning goals while still following the Canadian curriculum.

And honestly, I love that we can follow what he’s interested in, but still make sure he’s learning what he needs to learn.

Grade 1… here we go! 😂

เปิดเทอมแล้ว… แต่ไม่ได้ไปโรงเรียน! 😂🎒

ลูกชายขึ้น ป.1 อย่างเป็นทางการแล้ว เย้! 🥹🎉

เรายังโฮมสคูลเหมือนเดิมค่า
โดยผ่านโปรแกรมโฮมสคูลที่จดทะเบียนในแคนาดา
มีครูคอยเช็คอินกับเราปีละ 2 ครั้ง
เรียนตามหลักสูตรแคนาดา แต่ก็ยังมีความยืดหยุ่นในการเรียนตามความสนใจของลูก

ป.1 ลุยกันเลย! 😂🎒

the last few days have been A LOT.

terrible 3 year old who says NO to everything

horrible 6 year old with big feelings + BIG questions

homeschooling, house stuff, mom brain…

and I swear I’ve heard “mama” about 800 times before 9am 😂

so if you don’t see me posting much, that’s why.

gotta survive the day first before I can post about it 😂

I’ll be back, promise. still here. 🤍

Last Saturday at the Air Museum,
I asked my 6-year-old:

✈️ "Do you want to be a pilot?"
🩺 "Or a doctor?"

He thought for a moment and said:
"I want to be myself."

Wasn't expecting that one. 😂🥹

Maybe that's enough for now.

He doesn't need to know
what he wants to become yet.

He's still busy figuring out who he is. 🤍.................................

เมื่อวันเสาร์ที่ผ่านมา พาลูกชายไปเที่ยว
Nanton Air Museum มา

เลยลองถามลูกว่า "โตขึ้นอยากเป็นอะไร?
อยากเป็นหมอ หรืออยากเป็นนักบินดี?"

ลูกคิดแป๊บนึงแล้วตอบว่า
"อยากเป็นตัวของตัวเอง"

ในฐานะแม่ ได้ยินแบบนี้แล้วรู้สึกภูมิใจ 🥰

อย่างน้อยความคาดหวังของเราก็ไม่ได้ไปบดบังตัวตนของเขา

และเขาก็ยังมีเวลาอีกมากที่จะค่อยๆ ค้นหาว่า
"ตัวเองเป็นใคร" 🤍

I AM STRONG. I AM BRAVE. I CAN DO THIS. 💙

One minute he's running with his tiny wobbly legs,

the next he's facing a wall twice his size.

No tears. No giving up. Just tries again.

Watching you learn that you can do hard things is my favorite part of watching you grow up.

You really did prove the wall right ❤️..............
