Hello, I hope this post finds you well.
As most of you know the past two years have been challenging as I've lost so many people in my life. Caron was my best friend, coach and Spiritual Superpowers partner. Caron was a huge animal lover and in 2011 started the Furry Friends 5K. Me and my dog Betty participated in this race every year. It was Caron's goal to reach $1 Million Dollars in fundraising support for local animal charities all over Ontario. Sadly Caron passed away from a 5 year battle with cancer this past September and never got to meet her fundraising goal. After her passing I signed up for the Alpe D'Huez Triathlon in France on July 24th to race it in honor of Caron and to help her reach her fundraising goal. The race starts with a 1.2K swim, then it's on to the bike where I will be riding up the famous Alpe D'Huez (part of the Tour De France). The climb itself is a 1,860 m climb with an average gradient of 8.1%. There are 21 hairpin bends and a maximum gradient of 13%. It will be the most challenging bike ride I have ever attempted. Finishing the race is a 7K run at the top of the mountain at over 6000 ft of elevation above sea level. As of right now I am only $1000 away from hitting my goal and Carons fundraising is now at $975 000 so we will hit the her goal a some point this summer!
