Nits and Lice Season!

Multiple cases of nits and lice have been reported by staff in our school this month. We request that you please check your child for nits and lice. If any are found please treat. If you need any assistance, accessing resources, please let us know.

Nits and Lice are more commonly transmitted as schools starts in the fall, and colder weather use of heavy clothing and jackets begins. We request that all families please check your child for nits and lice regularly. If they are found, please treat them (generally shampoo, gel/conditioner, combing: repeated every 1-2 days for 8-10 days or more since the eggs hatch after 7 days; only wash bedding and clothing used regularly, and dry in hot dryer). Staff regularly do routine checks in each classroom.

Children who have excessive and untreated nits and lice may be asked to stay home to reduce the spread. While nits and lice are not a health issue they can severely reduce any child’s ability to focus and learn at school.
