It was a great day for the LBN Indigenous Skills Program who hosted the 3rd Annual LBN Forestry Spring Training. We just completed six weeks of training with them on Life and Essential Skills, Employment Skills, Wellness and Self Care, Culture and Drumming, Community History, Bah'lats and Fire Brigade Training.

Our students from the Nadut'en Community Leadership Program just left for their landbased course INGL263 Ways of Knowing: Nadut'en Land and Culture which is focused on Hunting and Trapping with the Yintah Guardians and one of our Nation's female hunters, Lena Wingo. They will spend the next three days out on the land, learning with their mentors and return to class Friday to present to the class what they witnessed.

We are so excited and hope they get a moose!
Learning in this way helps our students to connect to the lands that make us Nadut'en! Healing through education, honoring the yintah.

The 2024-2025 Nadut'en Community Leadership Program is well underway. We had our Program Orientation day and our students are so excited for the upcoming school year!

Grant Writing Director/Technical Lead for the Indigenous Skills Program Priscilla Crouse did the Welcome Address and Foundation Negotiation Implementation Director Betty Patrick came to present on the Foundation Agreement.

We also had a workshop on Self Care, as that's an important part of being a successful student on these students education journeys. ♥️🌿

Do you need help in applying for our programs?

If you are in the urban communities, you can go to your nearest Friendship Centre and speak with their Employment Counsellor or Job Coach and they can walk you through all the forms. They can also help you in writing a good cover letter! They can help you scan and email it all back to us! They offer lots of great services.

For those in Burns Lake, you can also see Cecile Abraham or Geraldine Michell at the LBN Employment and Training Department or John Patrick at BLNDC to assist you with your application.

We've had a great response for this training! Our department has sent out 35 applications, and have received 7 back already! For those who are still working on their applications, send in what you can in early.

Many of the schools and institutions may be on holidays right now for you to get your transcripts, but even so, submit your applications, letter and resume with a note that transcripts are on the way at a later date. Don't wait to apply! Apply today!
