Thank you to Vancouver Chopin Society and Tom Lee Music 通利琴行for this wonderful opportunity to have students showcase their hard work! For my students it was their first time playing a 9 foot grand! Hearing Chopin for 4 days straight is like having dessert for every meal!

There is no quick fix.
No cutting corners.
The cognitive, physical, emotional and personal transformation it takes to become a pianist…this takes so many years, and cannot ever be hurried.
It can most definitely be accelerated, but it cannot be rushed.
Because the brain is magnificent, but the complexities of what we do as pianists are almost beyond comprehension.
I can safely say that you’ll get to know yourself in ways you never thought possible. If you’re lucky, you’ll see it through, and you’ll develop perseverance and resilience by the bucketload.
But don’t ever forget that this long term relationship, with the instrument that is single-handedly an orchestra, will never let you down. It will see you at your brightest, it will accompany you at your darkest.
You will lose yourself in its passion more than you can ever know and more than you have ever experienced.
You will be changed. Irrevocably. And, in turn, your music will, in its own, quiet way, change the world, too.
