Mark is a cheerful and curious student whose friendly smile and positive energy bring warmth to our learning environment. His enthusiasm, growing confidence, and willingness to participate make him a wonderful part of the SELIS community. An after-school routine doesn’t need to be complicated. Sometimes, three small steps are enough to help children know what comes next: reset, focus, and celebrate progress. 💛
Start with time to settle in. Then help your child choose one school task to begin. At the end of the afternoon, notice their effort, whether they finished everything or took a good first step.
When a routine feels familiar, children can practise following it with growing independence.

Learning begins with listening.

On September 30, SELIS Learning Academy observes the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation. We honour residential school Survivors, the children who never returned home, and their families and communities.

For families and educators, this day offers an opportunity to help children learn about residential school history in thoughtful, age-appropriate ways, guided by Indigenous voices and resources.

Through honest conversations, respectful questions, and continued learning, we can help young learners understand why truth and reconciliation matter.

We listen. We learn. We remember.

Not every student learns at the same pace or in the same way.
Sometimes, a different explanation, focused guidance, or a quieter learning environment can make a meaningful difference. 📚✨
The SELIS Subject Tutoring & Homework Support Program provides personalized academic support based on each student’s learning style, needs, and goals.
Subjects include:
🔢 Math at all levels
📖 English, including reading, writing, and grammar
🔬 Science
🌎 Social Studies
🇫🇷 French, available as an optional subject
🗂️ Study skills and organization
✏️ Homework and assignment support
Specialized guidance is also available for test preparation, projects, skill gaps, and strengthening learning foundations.
Students can choose between:
👩‍🏫 One-on-one tutoring
👥 Small-group tutoring for two to four students
💻 Online or in-person sessions
📅 Flexible weekday, evening, and weekend scheduling based on availability
Tutoring is available for students in Grades 1 to 12. College-level English and Math support may also be available upon request.
