Congratulations to two of our Music Business Associate Certificate graduates on their nominations for the 2026 Western Canadian Music Awards.
Now in its 24th year, BreakOut West brings together a vibrant mix of a music conference, festival, and awards program, showcasing artists and industry professionals from British Columbia, Alberta, Saskatchewan, Manitoba, Yukon, and the Northwest Territories. This yearโs event will take place from September 30 to October 4 in Victoria, BC.

The BCIT Digital Arts, Media and Design (DAMD) department represented the School of Business + Media at Web Summit Vancouver 2026.
A huge thank you to our faculty, staff, and students for their energy and teamwork. The event provided a valuable opportunity to connect with inspiring speakers, BCIT alumni, and industry partners, and to exchange ideas and insights.
Shoutout to faculty Jayme Cochrane, Henry Leung, and Airrick Dunfield, along with students Jess Wilson, Journey Kim, and Yuhan Lee, for leading three engaging masterclasses that showcased our student projects as well as the latest tools and skills we bring into the classroom.
We also enjoyed gathering at the BCIT Downtown Campus for the DAMD Community Meetup, which was another great opportunity to connect and celebrate our community.

The Young Women in Business Afternoon Tea 2026, โThe Future is Female: Dreams in Motion,โ brought together an inspiring and empowering community for an impactful afternoon.
A sincere thank you to our keynote speakers, Taryn Rohde, Danielle McNeill, and Tassan Sung, for sharing their inspiring journeys, valuable insights, and experiences with our attendees.
Kudos to the BCIT Young Women in Business organizing committee for delivering such an impactful and well-executed event. It was also wonderful to connect with BCIT alumni and industry professionals and witness the strength, ambition, and support within our community.

It was a fantastic evening at the BCIT Television & Video Production Program Showcase.
Our second-year Television and Video Production students proudly presented their final projects to an audience of industry professionals, family, and friends, celebrating the creativity, hard work, and dedication that brought these productions to life. A heartfelt thank you as well to the faculty and staff whose guidance and support made these achievements possible.
Congratulations to the team that won Best Movie, and to all our students for showcasing such impressive talent and commitment to the field of video production. We are incredibly proud of everything you have accomplished.
We were also honoured to welcome MP Wade Chang, Burnaby Mayor Mike Hurley, BCIT President Jeff Zabudsky, and BCIT School of Business + Media Dean Kenton Low as they joined us in celebrating this exciting milestone.

The recent BCIT Global Supply Chain Management (GSCM) Program Showcase brought together students, industry, and community for an evening of connection and insight.
Three student teams participated in the Business Consulting Project showcase, with the top team presenting on stage to a room full of industry professionals.
Thank you to our industry partners, including Canadian Dry Storage, CITT, ASCM Western Canada Chapter, and the BCIT Alumni Association, for supporting student learning in meaningful ways.

Together, we made a meaningful impact at the Free Electronics Recycling and Data Destruction Event during Earth Month 2026 at BCIT: British Columbia Institute of Technologyโs Burnaby Campus. Thank you to everyone who joined us.
It was inspiring to see students, employees, local residents, and businesses come together with a shared goal: responsibly managing e-waste and protecting personal data.
Together, we achieved:

Secure hard drive destruction services provided

Electronics diverted for reuse and responsible recycling
A special thank you to the Electronic Recycling Association and the Better Business Bureau of Mainland BC for partnering with us to make this event possible. Your support helps drive awareness and action toward sustainability and data security in our community.
