And just like that, the 9th National Fair Trade Conference has come to a close. 💕

HUGE thank you to for all their hard work putting together this absolutely amazing conference!! 🥳🥳

Not only did we here at SFU Fair Trade have a blast, we also learned so much from some amazing Fair Trade advocates 🌱

Here are some highlights of the trip!

Mitchell Han, a SFU Fair Trade Ambassador, had some insightful comments about the trip: "I learned many new things at the conference. I really enjoyed presenting to people, who were mostly high school students from fair trade-relevant groups at their schools, which is one of the many things we do to educate people about fair trade. In return, I learned from school groups about them doing very cool sustainable stuff, from FT-relevant organizations about the work they do for advancing fair trade, met a coffee producer from Colombia who is a manager of an organization working in fair trade and sustainable processes who shared information about the his organization, and more."

Kylee Pocrnich, the Program Coordinator for SFU Fair Trade, had such an amazing experience she doesn’t know where to start! “Honestly it was such an amazing experience attending the Fair Trade Conference! It was so cool to meet so many fantastic people who are all passionate about Fair Trade. Learning how each person is fighting for producers rights and after my presentation and facilitation of the Global Café session on Engaging with Non-Fair Trade Businesses I was so inspired and I can’t wait to see everything that will come out of these presentations and collaborations. Huge shout out to Victor, a Fairtrade coffee producer and general manager of RED ECOLSIERRA in Columbia as well - Fair Trade advocates are working for producers like him and not the other way around, so it was incredible to hear his perspective as well and how Fair Trade has positively impacted him.”

Time to start the count down to the next Fair Trade conference 🤩🤩

At the second day of the National Fair Trade Conference, our Program Coordinator Kylee co-facilitated a session for the World Café! 🤩

She was in charge of leading the discussion around how best to engage with Non Fair Trade Businesses, and absolutely adored the chance to hear everyone’s brilliant ideas about how to tackle this. Getting to hear everyone’s experience, knowledge, and passion for Fair Trade left her with plenty of new ideas to tackle working with non Fair Trade businesses and she’s excited for what the future may hold 🥰

Here’s a couple action shots! After the World Café sessions, Kylee and the facilitators for the other sessions had the chance to summarize what was shared to the entire group so we could learn all about what everyone discussed 🎉🎉
