Dear parishioners and friends of St. Francis de Sales, Burnaby,

Here we are at the beginning of summer — a season of longer days, a gentler pace, and a welcome sense of space in our lives. Yet... as our rhythm changes, the question remains: how will we fill that space?

In our first reading this Sunday, the woman of Shunem makes room for the prophet Elisha — deliberately setting aside a place where he can dwell. In the same way, summer invites us to be intentional about making room for the Lord: through prayer, through Sunday Mass, and by choosing forms of rest that truly restore.

This spirit of making room — for Christ and for one another — is strikingly evident in our growing Youth and Young Adult ministries. As you will read by clicking the purple button below, young people in our parish are coming together in friendship, faith, and genuine encounter with the Lord, marked by joy, conversation, and a desire to grow as disciples.

There is also much anticipation for the launch of our high school Youth Group this fall — a space for young people to stay connected, grow in faith, and build lasting friendships.

As a parish family, this is a reminder that when we make space for the Lord, He not only meets us there but draws others together in ways that bear lasting fruit.

👩‍🎓🧑‍🎓It's the last day of school for our new Alumni Class of 2025–2026. Ready for today's farewell celebration!!! 🎓🎉

Dear parishioners and friends of St. Francis de Sales, Burnaby,

June is alive with the energy of the World Cup... and the Church draws us to the Most Sacred Heart of Jesus. We see the passion everywhere, inside and outside stadiums and at watch parties… and we pause to reflect: what if even a fraction of that fire were directed toward the things that last?

Throughout this month, we're invited to contemplate the Heart of Christ—open and overflowing with love... given not because we earned it, but because He simply pours Himself out for us. This is a love we're invited to faithfully receive at every Mass. This is a love that's meant to ignite our own hearts.

In the Gospel this Sunday, Jesus is moved with deep compassion and reminds us: “The harvest is plentiful, but the labourers are few.” Our world is full of people searching and waiting and hey... we are sent to bring that love into the week ahead. At Mass, The Holy Eucharist that we receive is our strength... meant not to be held, but to move with us into that waiting world.

So let's get moving team! There are so many yearning hearts 'out there' who are only going to know God's love through us, through you.
