Hi everyone!
Due to the rise of antisemitism both on and off campus around the world, we the Jewish students association at SFU, decided to have an event on antisemitism education, as we feel that it is not a topic that is often addressed in society.
Adam Dobrer, our lead advocacy professional, will be giving a presentation on the IHRA definition of antisemitism, IHRA as a whole, the 3D test, as well as some information on Judaism itself.
The main goal of the event is to provide education to SFU students and faculty on how antisemitism manifests today, as well as tools to help combat antisemitism, and support the Jewish community.
We invite you to join us on February 17th from 5-7pm at Saywell Hall in room 9152 to learn more about how you as sfu students, can help combat antisemitism on campus.

Update: Today the Simon Fraser Student Society voted unanimously to adopt a BDS issues policy. See below for a statement from Hillel BC.
04/13/2022
Hello Everyone,
Tomorrow, the SFSS will be voting on a BDS issue policy which concerns many Jewish students, and which sets a dangerous precedent regarding the legitimacy of the SFSS as a representative body of the public opinion of students.
Please read our response below outlining the following three points:
1. The policy supports "all forms of resistance" by "any Palestinian", which implies violent resistance.
2. The policy supports a cultural, and academic boycott…This form of boycott violates the BC Societies Act.
3. The SFSS, by pursuing an academic and cultural boycott of a specific national identity, is further discriminating against Jewish and Israeli students. This violates one of the SFSS Bylaws on Page 31 of the 2020 Bylaws Document states that "The Society shall not discriminate against any person on any ground enumerated in the Canadian Charter of Rights and Freedoms or the British Columbia Human Rights Code."
We encourage all Councillors to VOTE NO and not to enact the IP-10 Issues Policy. We encourage all students reach out to their Departmental Student Union representatives to the SFSS council and encourage them to VOTE NO.
If anyone has any questions, please reach out to us at [email protected]

Resources and supports for those experiencing Antisemitism - Equity, Diversity and Inclusion - Simon Fraser University
Antisemitism is on the rise in Canada and around the world. SFU is no exception to this. Jewish students on SFU campuses report an increase in antisemitic experiences and a decrease in their feeling of safety.
