Pull ups, chin ups, muscle ups, no matter their variation. We love pull ups. Theyโre a staple movement in our books.
Keeping the body braced and tight throughout the movement is a key to success. But most importantly, no cue is going to make up for a lack of strength and quality repetition.
Reps may not always look perfect and that doesnโt mean we shouldnโt still strive for as close to it as we can in the context of each session and even set.
Mastering the basics will never be a bad decision. Boredom can stem from lack of progress, frustration, having too many interests. No matter the focus, the basics will inevitably make learning the new skill easier as you can draw upon a baseline mobility, stability and strength. The patterning, skill acquisition and development will take some time and also ultimately be easier when that baseline is higher.
Every layer of development stacks upon the past. Create a stable foundation. Less jenga.

The textbook talks about training people who are obese. It cautions to reduce depth, and even avoiding certain movements. Putting overweight individuals in the same category as our grandparents, (who also should be treated as individuals not a general group). It's important not to place people in a box. Meet people where they're at, not where you think they should be ๐ช

Landmine Highlight!
An under-utilized tool in the gym that often gets relegated to bent over rows and some kind of shoulder press.
The landmine is an amazing option to work on power and explosiveness as well as athletic strength.
Here we play with the lateral sn**ch adding that slight pause and hold to hit some dynamic stability work.
