🎥 Throwback to our former Dean sharing his experience in mining:

Mining is one of the loudest work environments out there — constant equipment, drilling, and heavy machinery all add up to long-term noise exposure.
What really stood out to me in this first clip is hearing protection, it's what I always check :)
In the first segment alone, you can see how noisy the work can be — a rock cutter saw at arm’s reach can easily reach 120 dBA. At that level, proper protection isn’t optional — it requires dual protection (earplugs + earmuffs) to reduce risk and support hearing loss prevention.
Our Deans get hearing tested yearly, and this is so simple but powerful:
➡️ Workers not directly exposed to noise can have their hearing tested every 2–3 years as part of the company’s Hearing Conservation Program.
That’s how hearing loss prevention should work.
And this doesn’t just apply to mining — many other industries face the same risks.
Heavy duty mechanics, trades, and anyone working around multiple pieces of industrial equipment at the same time are exposed to high and often overlapping noise levels. That’s when hearing protection becomes even more critical.
Because here’s the reality:
Wearing hearing protection at work protects your ability to hear what matters most — your loved ones at home.
And waiting until noise feels painful?
That’s already too late.
Hearing damage is painless, gradual, and often goes unnoticed until it starts affecting communication, safety, and quality of life.
