This is Sienna’s FIRST piano lesson with Ms Shelley! (She loves improvising at the start of her lesson and brings that energy home and jams with her Dad! 🥹)

My students love improving as it gives them freedom in creating sounds and atmosphere at the keyboard. I always accompany them and give them a rhythm & a “vibe” before they join in!

When your 5 yr old student is having so much fun at his piano lessons esp with Bearthoven dressed in a tuxedo 🧸 is helping out!

With my younger students, having a few stuffie friends encourages them to listen & feel the music and they have a routine to take them out at the start of their lesson and “put them to rest” at the close and sing the Goodbye Song.

An amazing concert yesterday from the Vancouver Symphony Orchestra and Hayato Sumino “Cateen” かてぃん 👏👏👏
I listened to a well controlled, exciting Tchaikovsky 4th by the VSO and a delicate and profound interpretation of Chopin’s 1st Piano Concerto.
What a treat it was for Hayato to improvise an impressive encore of Twinkle, Twinkle originally “Ah vous dirais-je Maman” by Mozart. I heard it in the style of Chopin’s Etude, ragtime, jazz, in a minor key, and Bachlike!

🎹 Relaxed wrist.

Because beautiful music doesn’t come from pressing harder…
It comes from playing smarter.
