I will be opening my studio for the summer - and will be accepting beginner and intermediate classical guitar students only.

I don’t have any plans for camps yet - but if there is an interest, I will consider it. Also if there are small groups of friends interested in learning together - I would be open to coaching trios or quartets - or even developing a week long camp with the input of the students.

If you have an interested student feel free to message me and let’s have a conversation.

Classes will begin after July 2nd.

Any new students coming on board this summer, will have a place in my fall program if they are interested.

All lessons in the summer will be in person.

*adults are welcome.

Please feel free to share this with your friends.

Thank you.

It’s a real treat for me to be able to attend a (salon) concert given by a GFA finalist. Love being introduced to new repertoire and I’ve been given motivation for months. I have a small twinge of regret that I don’t really teach classical repertoire the way it is played by the professionals. But I suppose I can always take it upon myself to unlearn my own methods and tackle this music the way it was intended to be played.

Congratulations to Alan Liu on a remarkable concert and a career that will certainly be extraordinary.

And of course - If you want to be a classical guitarist - sign up for lessons with me - and We can navigate this world together.

We are going to delay the start of the new term in order to find the best way to move forward. For now that means online private lessons are being put on hold. The weekend musical storytelling chats will be resuming on on Saturday mornings. If you want to join in - and learn about music and listen to some tunes old and new and create a relationship with music, leave a message and we will figure out a way to make this work.

But remember - lessons won’t be gone forever - so keep practicing.

We have all had days like this. Put down the guitar. Go outside. Walk around the block. And try again. It will be different this time.

An Experiment in Art 08/26/2019

A teacher never stops learning.
And sometimes the lessons are surprising.

An Experiment in Art Any ideas on what I was listening to when I made this? My studio is about to start up for the fall semester in a couple of weeks, and I have been experimenting using other artistic means to listen.…

Active vs Passive listening. This is something I am thinking about incorporating into my studio this term, to see if it helps students connect to music more than just listening and reading along to a score. To connect in a way that harmonic analysis doesn't allow. It's going to take a few more tries, in order to perfect my technique - and also see if other composers create different designs and patterns.

I'm guessing Bach will create circles and spirals. Any takers on that one?

Stretching will now be a compulsory component in your weekly lessons. And like with your music, I will be able to tell when you aren't practicing.

Your teacher sees all, hears all, and knows all.

Inhale - big breath. Exhale. Now let's start. It's not as scary as you think.

A musical smile for Friday.....thanks to Harmonics Music Studio for sharing.....
