Before assuming they “just aren’t good at math” or rushing to hire a tutor, it helps to find out what’s actually going wrong.

A quick message to their teacher can tell you whether the issue is:

* the current topic,
* an older skill that’s causing problems,
* or something else they should prioritize first.

I wrote a simple email template with the 3 questions to ask.
