Easy transition into apples this week from our fall themed fun!

We read “10 apples on top” by Dr Suess, and learned the different parts of the apple! Finally, we practiced our counting skills by making our own apple trees 🌳 🍎

And just like that… summer 2023 is coming to an end!
Just a very few glimpses of the good times we had despite all the rain lol
We fully took advantage of every opportunity to be outside and enjoy the sunshine when we could.
This week is bittersweet with two kiddos in our group off the kindergarten, but we are excited for all the adventures we will all have with new friends this fall!! Hope everyone had a great summer!! ❤️❤️

It’s been awhile! Summer vibes are setting in already at our daycare and we’ve been busy!

This week we have taken some time to explore some insects! Yesterday we learned about caterpillars and butterflies and made our own butterfly life cycle art after reading “The very Hungry caterpillar” 🐛

This week we started our “Under the Sea theme” . Here are some of our finished seahorses !

The last famous artist we considered this week was Matisse! The kids just love cutting their own shapes out of paper and creating collages so I knew this would be a big hit. Great practice with scissor skills and fine motor skills as well. My favourite part is seeing everyone’s individual creativity come through ❤️

Our famous artist theme continues!

Today we looked at Jackson Po***ck. We watched a YouTube video showing his splatter art painting style and saw another painter imitate it. Then we tried it outside. They loved it! When else are you allowed to literally throw paint?! 😍 🎨 👩‍🎨

They turned out great!

Loose parts sensory play on this rainy morning while singing along to their favourite songs!

Very simple activity that can be made by putting together random items or small toys and letting them use their imagination!

Yesterday we learned a bit about Van Gogh and his “Starry night” painting .
We loved the bright colours and the swirl effect that his art has. So we decided to let it inspire us to make our own “Starry night” painting using aluminum foil and our fingers!
Then simply press a watercolour paper on top and you have a masterpiece! 🖼️ 👩‍🎨

By far my favourite theme of the year has arrived! 🙌🏽
This week we study famous artists! First up , Kandinsky.
We used pastels and water colours to recreate his famous circles. The idea is to alternate colours between the paint and the circles so that everything stands out. They did so well!

Since April is Earth month we decided it would be awesome to brighten up our week with a Spring craft using recycled materials !

Egg cartons that we painted with bright pastels and cut to make petals became our flowers and a cardboard square we painted became a canvas.
It was so fun!

Our bees are complete! Tomorrow we will glue them on popsicle sticks and take home Bee stick puppets!
