Students in Construction 12 are off to a great start with their framing, drywall, electrical, plumbing, and tile modules which they will rotate through in groups for much of the course. One group is also currently building a step for BES students to use in their classroom.

Students in Construction 10 are doing a great job building their 2x4 chairs. Soon they will start working on add-ons that they plan out such as arm rests, foot stools, etc.

Today is the National Day for Truth and Reconciliation, a day to honour the children who never returned home, survivors of residential schools, their families, and Indigenous communities. Observed annually on September 30, it encourages reflection, learning, and meaningful action toward reconciliation in Canada. To learn more about the recommendations to move towards reconciliation, consider reading the reports available through the National Centre for Truth and Reconciliation.

Thursday, October 1 is Treaty Day, a day of celebration and an opportunity to learn more about the Mi'kmaq, their rich stories, and their lived experiences. Treaty Day also signals the start of Mi’kmaw History Month, a time to learn about Mi’kmaw culture and heritage. This year’s Mi’kmaw History Month theme, Nepisulti’k – We Are Healing, is inspired by the teachings of the late Elder Murdena Marshall.

👟 The SCA Phys. Ed. Department is looking for donations of gently used ball gloves and indoor sneakers! 👟

If you have any sneakers or gloves you’d like to donate, please bring them to the office! Having extra sneakers on hand allows students to safely participate in PE classes on days they forget to bring theirs! Thanks so much!
