A late post, but a wonderful final session Mohawk Council of Akwesasne Thompson Island Cultural Camp. Upper Canada District School Board (UCDSB) Students learned about or reviews traditional preparation corn for soup, using leather in crafts, and excitedly competed in a survival materials scavenger hunt, amongst other things. Another brilliant session at Thompson Island Cultural Camp where with incredible weather and peaceful surrounding had students be on the water, prepare hominy, learn/practice beading, and share circle with a fire at the centre. Mohawk Council of Akwesasne Upper Canada District School Board (UCDSB)

and again presented incredibly to our Day 5 session 2 groups Municpal Centre. Awesome learning again and inspiring student participation with the stone painting activity. 🧡

An incredible Day 1 for at in where and took us through the ceremonial cycles of the Oherokon/Under the Husk - Rites of Passage followed by a soothing activity of stone painting.

We were honoured to welcome Cultural Advisor Natasha Santiago Smoke to The Queen Elizabeth School - UCDSB for a Haudenosaunee pottery workshop. Students explored traditions, stories, and techniques while creating their own beautiful clay pots to take home.

Natasha is a wonderful addition to our Cultural Advisor list, and her knowledge, warmth, and connection to culture made this experience truly special. We’re so grateful for the learning she shared with our students!

iLead students from Rideau District High School - UCDSB took part in a Virtual iLead Day with Cree/Métis artist Amanda Pierce, producing beautiful, one-of-a-kind pieces using a variety of materials and techniques.

From works in progress to finished creations, the pride in their work is clear. We couldn’t be more impressed with what they’ve created!
