My kids at Leeds have all heard that I have set myself a goal of competing in a 5k race for my 50th birthday. I ran cross country in high school, but that is a long time ago!
I have been using this event to show students how setting a long term goal and then setting smaller, short term goals can make the main goal more likely to be a success. Sneaky teaching!
Now I have a bunch of kids who also want to run the race!
If you or your child would like to take part, here is a link:

There seems to be a lot of confusion about the start of school this year. I have spoken to a number of parents and kids who were under the impression that school starts on September 8th.
However, this is a weird year! The UCDSB and CDSBEO kids all go back on Wednesday, September 2. Then they will have Labour Day weekend with the holiday landing on Monday, September 7.
I have every agenda I have ever used at Leeds (23 years worth!) and I went through them all this week looking for the start of school. This is the first time they have gone back before Labour Day, at least since 2003.
As for us, we will be closed from Friday, August 28 until the new term begins on Wednesday, September 2.

We are SO excited to be introducing this version of blind books into the store!🎉 The Playdate with a book blind mystery books each contain a children's book with the average age range between 7 to 12. We have a master list of the books, so if parents are curious they can easily know what book is behind the wrapping🔎. It also has child friendly items to go with it, such as stickers, cute pens, bookmarks, etc🤩. They can be found in store in the children's section! We hope you enjoy these as much as we had fun making them! Happy reading everyone!📖

Congratulations to Kyla for her acceptance into the Queen's doctoral programme!
Since she will be relocating to Kingston, we are now looking for two new instructors to pick up the torch and carry on helping local students succeed.
Please share with other dedicated educators!
