Speaking Nature is here to assist with the discovery of nature and being outdoors. Through a range of methods form Outdoor Education in schools to helping families and individuals discover nature in their own back yard. Speaking Nature can visit your school, group or organization to provide professional consulting and training for your staff in the delivery of nature based programs and service. Ideal for staff in parks, camps, nature and visitor centers.

🕷️ TICK MYTHS VS. TRUTHS 🕷️

❌ Myth: Ticks die off after a cold winter.
✅ Truth: This year's snowy winter actually helped more ticks survive.
❌ Myth: You'll always know if a tick is attached.
✅ Truth: Some nymph ticks are as small as a poppy seed and can be easy to miss.
❌ Myth: Lyme disease is the only concern.
✅ Truth: Ticks in our region can also carry other illnesses, including anaplasmosis and babesiosis.
❌ Myth: If a tick bites you, there's nothing you can do.
✅ Truth: Prompt removal and early treatment can help reduce the risk of illness.

This woman is an inspiration!!!

This is my goal! I have been a solo paddler when I lived in the north and worked in Quetico Provincial Park as the chief Park Naturalist!

I loved it, the quiet nature, paddle and observing nature, the way it felt , empowering feeling of paddling through isolated lakeS, streams and portages!

For me it was a great experience and proved to myself I could do it - however I love the company of people and look forward to more trips ahead surrounded by like minded outdoor enthusiasts and friends!!!!

Spring is here !!!
Remember as it warms up … little critters need the left litter for protection. If you can wait till it is warmer before raking … it gives them time to hatch 🙂

ICYMI: The Ontario government has removed all provincial protection measures for endangered and threatened migratory birds and aquatic species, ceding responsibility to the Government of Canada. It has done this by bringing into force its repeal of the Endangered Species Act. The new and much weaker Species Conservation Act, does not apply at all to at-risk fish and birds. These changes create a dangerous gap in protection.

The Ontario government has also ended provincial recognition for species classified as ‘special concern.’ The delisted species – numbering 106 in total – range from those Ontarians could encounter close to home, such as the Eastern Mole, Eastern Musk Turtle, Red-headed Woodpecker and Redside Dace, to those few will ever see, like the Cougar.
