We'd like to thank everyone who came to the Plantaholics Plant Sale yesterday and made it such a success. We all enjoyed the food from the Greek N'Go food truck, and the weather held until 2pm when the wind tried to blow everything over!
A big warm 'thank you' to all our retail customers who had so many kind words to say about us and said they missed us. We miss you all too, but as one ages one should try to ease up and spend more time with ones family and friends.

"ROSA MUTABILIS"
I never realized that this shrub rose would become such an incredible climbing rose up against the west wall of our house all on its own!!! 'Mutabilis' is an old rose from China discovered in 1932. Peter Beales said "Although thought by some to be a species, this rose is probably an old Chinese garden hybrid with characteristically mysterious origins. An interesting and useful garden shrub which, I am convinced, has a well developed sense of humour"!!!
'Mutabilis' is an extremely healthy rose and has coppery yellow flowers fading to pink & then to coppery crimson. The petal formation resembles butterflies. It does require a protected site, but may grow to 8 feet by 6 feet or more.
If you happen to go to Italy to the gardens of La Landrina, created by the Marchesa Lavinia Taverna close to the site of WWll battle fields at Anzio near Rome, there's about two acres devoted to over 300 'Mutabilis'.

CISTUS "SHIRLEY SMITH" - this beautiful Cistus was found by Al and Shirley Smith in their garden on Mount Douglas in Victoria, B.C.
It grows into a compact mound of light gray-green leaves and single pale pink flowers with light yellow centers. 50cm x 90cm. It is certainly hardy down to zone 7 in free-draining soil.
