There are some people whose greatest lessons are not taught from a podium or a dojo floor, but through the quiet example of the way they choose to live. Rick Joslin is one of those remarkable individuals.

For decades, Rick has dedicated his life to serving others. His dojo has been a fixture in its community for nearly sixty years, shaping generations of students not only into martial artists, but into people of character. Long before many knew his name as an instructor, Rick spent a short time training at Eastern Karate and proudly competed in the 1975 Ontario Open Karate Championship, where he earned a championship victory. Those experiences became part of a lifelong journey devoted to discipline, humility, and service.

Today, Rick faces perhaps the greatest challenge of his life.

As he walks through the difficult realities of illness and the process of preparing for the next life, he does so with remarkable peace. His faith in Jesus Christ has become the anchor that steadies him through every difficult day. While many would be overwhelmed by fear, Rick's testimony shines brighter than ever. His confidence in the Savior transforms what many see as an ending into the joyful anticipation of a glorious reunion and the continuation of eternal life.

He continues to bear his testimony with sincerity and conviction, reminding everyone around him that hope is greater than fear and that Christ's promises are real. The comfort he has found through his ministry and his lifelong devotion to the gospel has become a source of strength not only for himself but also for those privileged to know him. On a personal note, Rick has been a tremendous blessing to me. During my many visits to Hamilton while researching and filming the Eastern Karate documentary, he has always been there with encouragement, friendship, and generous support. His kindness has meant more than words can express, and I will always be grateful for the influence he has had on both my work and my life.

Rick has also shared his experiences and testimony through his published book. I encourage everyone to obtain a copy. It is more than a story—it is a testament to perseverance, faith, and the quiet strength that comes from trusting God through every season of life.
