Monday June 1, 2026 .... Another fun and inspiring evening at Brant Toastmasters!
Best Speaker: Congratulations to Michael King for winning with his speech, "Small Talks, Big Wins." His humorous account of being rejected by five professional speakers before finally securing a guest speaker for our upcoming banquet proved that persistence really does pay off!
Best Evaluator: Mae Legg took top honours with her thoughtful evaluation of Barb Day's speech, "I Accept." Well done, Mae!
Best Talk at Table Topics: When asked, "If you knew you would die tonight, what would your last meal be?" Faith Amadi had the winning response: "Forget about a last mealâjust go to the Mandarin Restaurant and have all the meals!" đ

Travel Stories, Life Lessons, and a Little Romance!
What a fantastic evening at Brant Toastmasters on May 25, with our theme: "Travel Stories."
Table Topics Winner: Lilly Senko
Lilly shared her most memorable travel adventureânot to Paris or Rome, but to a farm in Simcoe, Ontario at age 13. There she met the most handsome 14-year-old boy she'd ever seen. Ten years later, she married him! Talk about a trip that changed your life!
Best Speaker: Tara Tran
Tara moved us with her inspiring speech, "Lessons from My Dad." She shared her father's remarkable journey from Buddhist monk in Vietnam to devoted father in Canada, and the lessons of gratitude and contentment he passed on to his family. A heartfelt and powerful presentation.
Best Evaluator: Barb Day
Barb delivered an insightful evaluation of Attul Rajesh Nayyar's speech, "When Mentors Shine." She praised his honesty, celebrated the mentors who helped shape his journey as a newcomer to Canada, and even demonstrated techniques to help him become an even stronger speaker. That's mentorship in action!
Congratulations to all our winners and participants for another evening of learning, laughter, and inspiration!
Winners - L to R: Lilly Senko (Table Topics), Barb Day (Best Evaluator) and Tara Tran (Best Speaker),

May 11, 2026....Double play. Double winner. One unforgettable night!
Huge congratulations to Barb Day for absolutely dominating the eveningâtaking 1st place in BOTH the Speech Evaluation Contest AND Table Topics!
Her evaluation of Mae Leggâs speech âLessons on Negotiationsâ? Sharp, insightful, and completely on point. And just when we thought she couldnât top that⌠she swoops in and wins Table Topics too!
Her hilarious and vivid take on being an âanimal mama/babyââespecially her description of a baby chick popping out of its shell and instantly being a chickenâhas officially ruined breakfast for me.
Because now⌠every cracked egg comes with a mental image of Barb emerging from it. Scrambled eggs? Not anymore. Too personal. Thanks a lot, Barb! đ
And letâs hear it for Mae Legg, who delivered a winning speech of her own: âWinning, Waiting or Working Together; Lessons in Negotiationâ.
Mae masterfully compared the negotiation styles of three Canadian Prime MinistersâMackenzie King, Wilfred Laurier, and Justin Trudeauâbringing history to life with insight and elegance.
Plus, can we talk about that title? As a lover of language, that alliteration was chefâs kiss perfection.

What a night of talent, humor, and powerful communication. THIS is what growth and community look like!
