๐ฆ๐Day 1-Day 7. This guy grew so incredibly fast in one week, we can't get over it! He eats a ton now and loves to swim in the water table. What a fun week with KitKat. He will be headed back to the farm on Monday but what an incredible experience watching, hatching, cuddling and playing with our little buddy! I will be sending out lots of cute pics over the next week of your kiddos and their duckling time. We all love KitKat and will miss him but know he is ready for the farm life! Thank you Hatch Kit Co for the amazing experience! ๐ฅ๐ฃ๐ฆ๐
Nightly routine to tire our little buddy out. I stop he stops...I go he goes! ๐ฆ๐

๐ฃ๐๐ฆ๐๐ฆDuckling, goats, baby deer and ocean creatures oh my! What a wild last few weeks at Preschool! The kids were so excited to see our new dramatic play area of ocean creatures, mermaids, and pirates! ๐งโโ๏ธ๐ดโโ ๏ธThey have spent so much time in there together using their imaginations, finding treasures, "swimming" in the sea, camping, collecting and examining sea shells and so much more! They were also excited to check out all our new learning stations and loose part areas. So many fine motor skills being built as they explore and create.
๐ฆ๐ขFor art we did lots of ocean creatures stamping, made collage crabs and turtles, explored tin foil painting, and painted sea shells. We did some outdoor water and and sensory tables with ocean creatures and a much requested truck wash station! ๐We also enjoyed trips to the park, finished planting our vegetable garden and we were thrilled to see not just a few doe deer hanging out around Preschool but a brand new baby fawn! And we got a little visit with one of our family's new baby goats.... so many baby animals to see. So much to discover outdoors! Our field trips to the Discovery Center were a hit and we saw so many animals and learned about all the river wildlife. Everyone listened so well and we had a blast on our picnic and play at the park!๐๐ฆซ
We asked the kids what ocean animals they wanted to learn about and so far we have discovered facts about octopus, sharks and sea turtles. Ask your children if they remember anything they learned! ๐ We had a fun science experiment using a water filled plastic baggie octopus and discovered how they can fit through tiny holes! In the gym they played Ollie Ollie Octopus and some more fun ocean games.
Everyone had a blast with backwards day and thought it was hilarious that we mixed up the whole routine of our day together.๐คฃ The most funny parts were walking backwards everywhere, going in the downstairs doors to get into Preschool, reading our story backwards, mixing up which teacher took us to the gym, finding our backwards names on our hooks and so many other silly backwards things! Reminder that Mon and Tues are water fun days so wear your suit under your clothes and send a towel and bag for wet clothes. Wed-Fri are our pyjama fun days! ๐ซ
The highlight of our past week though was the excitement of finally having an egg hatch and getting to meet little KitKat! ๐ฃ๐ฅ๐ฆ๐He is one sweet and loved duckling. Although only one of our eggs hatched, the kids are beyond happy and we are excited to have this week to discover all about baby ducklings before he heads back to join all his duckling family on the farm. Pop in to say hi to KitKat at drop off or pickup times! He's very happy in his little duckling condo!
Be sure to check your emails for your child's final term report and don't forget to rsvp for our end of year family party! We are excited to see everyone!๐

Thursday duckling update! Well our first little duckling came karate kicking out today right around midnight! ๐ฃ๐We caught a little bit of video of him breaking free and the kids all fell in love with him today. After much debate they have decided they want to go with candy names so our first little guy is KitKat. He stayed in the incubator for the day but Miss Gibbs and I moved him to his little duckling condo after class and had many cute snuggles with him already. We are keeping our fingers crossed for more but only time will tell and we are thrilled we got one baby out of the bunch for sure. Check out these cute pics and we will post a little video of him breaking free as well! ๐ฆ๐

Wednesday duckling update! Egg #2 spent the day rocking and rolling and by the end of the day we have cracks and could even see it's little beak poke through the egg on occasion although I was unable to catch that on video. Here is a picture of some of the cracking at the top of the egg to show your kids! I do have our camera set up tonight in hopes if the egg hatches in the night we still get it on video for everyone. Day 28 tomorrow so things should start happening! ๐ฅ๐ฃ๐ฆ๐
๐ฆ๐ฃ๐ฅDuckling update... this week is supposed to be hatch week for our babies, likely Thurs or Fri. The kids are waiting very excitedly and watching carefully. This afternoon we started seeing movement in 3 of our eggs which was super cool! Check out this little video, you have to look carefully but you will see egg #2 starting to wiggle and shake! Crossing our fingers for successful hatching! ๐ฃ๐

๐จโ๐๐ฎโโ๏ธ๐ฎโโ๏ธ๐The last 2 weeks have been chalk full of fun and learning about community workers and different careers! A huge thank you to those who were able to come teach us a little about your jobs and we are excited for a few more special guests coming up! On top of our regular loose parts centers and learning stations we have been swapping out career dramatic play areas as well and they have definitely been the highlight of the month. ๐โโ๏ธ๐
This week's areas were a hair and nail salon and a construction zone.๐๐ทโโ๏ธ We have seen so much creativity and social skills developing in both areas. Everyday the kids have been coming up with new ideas of what we can add to each area and we are excited to add even more next week! ๐
๐จโ๐๐This week we also focused on fire fighters and fire safety, paramedics and police officers. ๐ฎโโ๏ธ๐ฎโโ๏ธ๐We got to hear about fire equipment, the fire station and what fire fighters do from a real fire fighter, as well as try on the very heavy but awesome fire helmet! Thanks fire fighter Thiessen for your visit, we had a blast! Ask your kids if they remembered to do their homework, looking for all the smoke detectors in your homes and picking a safe space outside to meet in case of emergencies. Next week we have a fire safety package heading home as well to help us learn even more! ๐งฏ
The kids all loved learning about what organs live inside our body and how to keep them healthy๐ช๐ฉบ๐ซ๐ซ. We had a nurse visit and explain ways to stay healthy and how to properly wash hands to keep those germs away! All the kids have loved trying on our organs vest and trying to remember where all the right pieces go. Ask your child if they remember what any of our organs are called and what the are for, they especially think our kidneys have a funny job!
In the gym we have had a blast with career dress up, running around as all sorts of community workers, dancers, singers, super heroes and many more. We played the most fun game pretending everyone was fire fighters and when our alarm rang we had to go to the correct color and number of house to spray out the fires. A great way to work on our colors and numbers through hands on play. The children also loved a very active game of cops and robbers, practicing counting skills while the police officers counted and the robbers hid! ๐ขAnother fun and challenging gym activity was our heart healthy exercise class after we learned all about our hearts and how to keep them strong. ๐ช
Outside we have been so busy with water play as you all likely well know.๐ง๐ถ Making potions, spraying water bottles, water painting sidewalks and walls, colour mixing and so many more fun, hands on water activities. All of these have been giving us so many opportunities for fine motor development!
The biggest excitement of our week was the arrival of our REAL DUCKLING EGGS! ๐ฅ๐ฆ๐ฃ๐ฅ The children are beyond excited for the arrival of our baby ducklings and spend lots of time during class watching the eggs carefully, shrieking when they turn in the incubator, and on occasion we even get to put an egg on the special light to do a process called candling where we check on the egg development by getting a sneak peak at the inside of the egg through the light! So cool! Everyone should have their egg countdown calendars now and I'm sure they are excited to do their daily egg colour as we count down the days until hatching! If you want to check out where our egg kit came from, go take a peek at Hatch Kit Co
Have a great weekend and be on the lookout in your email for more info on our upcoming field trips! ๐
