Larry Cavero Biography

I was born in Lima, Peru by the Pacific Ocean as my backyard. I started surfing at the age of 7 years old and at the age of 13, I started competing in all the nationals and all inter-schools championship. I continued surfing until I was 19 year old during my school years and until I left Peru and came to Canada. I thought that I will never surf again however, I found that

you can surf the Great lakes! I've been surfing the Great Lakes since 1997 for 4 years then took a break, went back to Dental school, got married and started a beautiful family. I started surfing again in 2009 and since then, its been unstoppable, doing all the local fun surf contests around the Great lakes as well representing the Great Lakes in the Eastern championship in the U.S almost every year. I started an online surf shop called SURF DREAMS CANADA because I saw the need of bringing awareness about our environment and how could we help to save our polluted beaches, so beach cleanups became one of our first goals and events. Surf Dreams Canada was born solely to serve our surfing community with many community events for everyone around all the Great lakes, with all the help and info need it to surf these beautiful lakes, also by providing with high-quality performance custom shaped surfboards, SUP, wetsuits and accessories, making it affordable for everyone to surf. Organizing beach clean ups, community service, helping new and old surfers getting back in the water and push the new generation of kids into the sport ,creating awareness for beach and water safety. We run many events through the year such as :

*Waves4warmth
Year around, we BBQ for the homeless and less fortunate people and gear them up with winter clothing and food during the winter months.)

*The Wind swell project
At list 3 times a year, for a full month, we provide FREE repairs for First responders with their stand up paddles and surfboards. Absolutely at NO coast

*The Cove beach cleanup
We cleanup our beautiful sur spots at The Scarborough bluffers park, 3 times a year, following with a BBQ and prizes for all our volunteers

I am so incredibly proud to share that my daughters, Keana and Nailani, were featured in the latest episode of “What’s Science” on TLC! They break down the science behind the waves and swells right here in Toronto, showcasing their passion and hard work at Keanaila Surfboards.

I really love El Salvador!
Easter there was pretty awesome, From soaking in the rich Catholic old traditions to catching waves and exploring this beautiful country, every moment was a blast!

This amazing trip wouldn’t be possible without the passion, love and adventurous heart of my wife and the memories from her homeland, her beautiful family and the incredible people of El Salvador. A huge shoutout to our family there for their kindness, generosity, and unity. Also, a special thanks to my brother Hector for sharing your home and those epic waves with me!
Every delicious pupusa, crafted with love by local people, added to the experience. We are filled with gratitude for all the wonderful friends we made along the coast as we surfed and explored.

Time really flies! The Cove beach cleanup #28 is coming up soon, Sunday April 26 at 11 AM!

Join us as we team up every year with our good friend Kelly from Rip & Tear Wetsuit Repair. She will have a basket ready to recycle all your neoprene that you no longer use. Every repair she does is made with recycled materials, and she also salvages items to give back to the community at events like this one!

So bring your old wetsuit, and let Kelly take care of it while we all pitch in to keep our beautiful Cove clean!
