Let's congratulate Ching alumnus Colin Clarke on his receiving the Order of Canada. Well done sir.

We are proud to announce that our very own Colin Clarke, Founder and Artistic Director of the Toronto Youth Wind Orchestra (TYWO), has been awarded the Order of Canada!

The Order of Canada celebrates the outstanding achievements and service by citizens who have made significant and positive contributions to Canadian life. Since 1991, Colin has helped transform the lives of thousands of young people through the TYWO program. His commitment to musical excellence coupled with his endearing humour has made him one of Canada’s most sought-after educators, lecturers, clinicians and conductors. Through his guidance, TYWO has worked with several leading composers, shared the stage with world-class artists, and embarked on national and international tours, including multiple performances at New York’s Carnegie Hall. There are TYWO alumni in almost every major symphony orchestra in Canada, including the Calgary Philharmonic, the Vancouver Symphony and the Toronto Symphony.

Colin continues to build transformational relationships within the community through his work at the Royal Conservatory of Music as Artistic Director of the Oscar Peterson Program, as well as conductor of the Oakville Symphony Youth Orchestra. His reputation has earned him audiences with amateur and professional ensembles across the country, and he endeavours to nurture a lasting culture of love, excellence, respect and belonging.

This honourable recognition is well-deserved and we could not be more proud.
