Ontario high school students will soon need to pass financial literacy test to graduate

Instead of adding financial literacy to the Grade 10 Math curriculum, it will remain in the Grade 10 Career Studies curriculum and will come with a mandatory test, students must achieve at least 70 per cent to pass.
Learna Brampton has developed lesson plans to provide students with a chance to learn and understand the individual skills needed that impact personal financial choices and the economic literacy needed to understand the impact of financial systems as a whole. We have seen lot of interest in our March Break Remedial programs (Grades 3-8). These programs are designed to close the gap between what a student knows and what he’s expected to know. They often target reading or math skills. 8 hours in a week (March 16-20).
Features of our March break remedial programs:
• Teach step-by-step without skipping over content
• Are conducted at the student’s pace
• Offer regular reviews and practice exercises to reinforce learning and practice applying new knowledge
• Include a way to assess what the student has learned and whether he’s ready to move ahead
• Offer small group(2 : 1) instruction to provide for more individual attention

Learna Brampton Online/In-Person Tutoring – BOOK A CALL - Grade 10 Literacy Test(OSSLT) Info

Spring Test Dates : March 23 - April 20, 2026

• The OSSLT is a provincial test of literacy (reading and writing) skills students have acquired by Grade 10. It is based on the literacy skills expected in The Ontario Curriculum across all subject areas up to the end of Grade 9.
• The Ontario Secondary School Literacy Test (OSSLT) has reading and writing activities
• The questions can be multiple choice, short writing tasks and long writing tasks
• The student also writes a News Report and a Series of Paragraphs (an essay)
• There are two booklets
• Each booklet is at least 75 minutes long
• The student must pass the test to graduate
Learna Brampton Tutors provide students with details about test content, instructions for doing the test and tips for doing well. Learna Brampton Online and In-Center Tutoring (J.Kg. – Grade 12) – Report Card Diagnostic
In the month of February, our subject specialist tutors will be available for a Descriptive Feedback on the mid-year Report Card as an opportunity to guide the students’ efforts towards improvement.
The tutor will highlight strengths and areas to improve based on the schoolteacher’s comments.
Informal Diagnostic Assessment activities are used by Learna Tutors at the beginning of a course or unit to determine students’ strengths and learning needs; and to plan, modify and adjust instruction.
