🚀 Inspiring the Next Generation of Innovators
This past weekend, had the opportunity to support , a hackathon that brought together over 130 students from Grades 7–12 to build, innovate, and tackle real-world problems.
What stood out most were the ideas, questions, and passion these students brought to the event.
🔹 A Grade 8 entrepreneur building a real estate product asked how to understand user problems when users won’t talk. An amazing conversation about finding creative ways to learn from users and the journey of an entrepreneur.
We were genuinely impressed by the maturity and thoughtfulness of the conversation from a middle school student.
🔹 A team of Grade 8 young women working on improving the early detection of ovarian cancer. Their passion, research, and commitment to solving a meaningful problem were inspiring.
We can’t wait to help connect them with the right mentors and resources as they continue developing their idea.
🔹 A Grade 7 student team wondered if a career-planning website was “too simple” of an idea to pitch. It sparked a great discussion about how solving an important problem is only half the challenge—the other half is clearly articulating the problem and why it matters. Often, that’s the most critical part of building a successful product.
These conversations reminded us that STEM education is about much more than coding and robotics. It’s about developing curiosity, creativity, empathy, communication, and problem-solving skills.
A special thank you to the TurnerHacks leadership team and student volunteers who worked tirelessly behind the scenes to bring together over 130 students. Events like these are only possible because of your passion, dedication, and hard work.
If these students are any indication, our future is in very promising hands. 🚀

📣Meet our keynote speaker.
We are beyond thrilled to announce that Lavanya Natarajan will be opening INWED Toronto 2026.
Lavanya is an engineer at heart, a technology leader by profession, and a community builder by purpose. With over 20 years of experience in software engineering, solution architecture, and large-scale delivery across banking and capital markets, she currently serves as a Product Group Technology Lead at TD Bank — driving enterprise transformation with a growing focus on agentic AI and intelligent, autonomous systems.
But what makes Lavanya's story so perfectly aligned with this conference is what she does beyond the day job. As the owner of Zebra Robotics Brampton East, she works closely with students, especially girls and underrepresented communities in STEM, to build not just technical skills, but the confidence, resilience, and leadership they need to thrive.
Her journey is non-linear. It spans engineering, leadership, and entrepreneurship. And it's grounded in a belief we share completely: success is not just about what you build. It's about the impact you create along the way.
That's exactly the energy we want to open the day with on June 27.
